The Thrill Of Stock Market Investing

Stock market investing is known to have its risks; you can lose money as well to make it. So why don't people just put their money on deposit and get a safe no risk, low return? I think the answer is that investors not only enjoy the potential for greater return comes when one accepts some risk but they also enjoyed the thrill of that risk.

Stock market investing can be very rewarding and those rewards come more than offset any risks, but the risks are part of investing, it's known as the risk reward ratio.

So what are some of these thrills that attract people to stock market investing in the hope of a greater yield on their capital.

I think the main thrill comes from the feeling that you are actively involved in investing your money, you decide which companies you will buy stock in, and it’s a hands-on decision. If you invest your money in cash deposits is a much more passive situation the money is just lying there growing slowly.

By buying stock in a company you are becoming one of the owners of that company, this gives you certain rights in law which includes the ability to vote at the annual general meeting and of course sharing in the profits of the company in the form of dividends.

Of course you also benefit from any growth in the underlying value of your share of the company, it is this underlying feeling of ownership, which gives the greatest thrill from stock investing. Imagine seeing an article in the newspaper about how well Microsoft is doing, if you own shares in the company you are doing well as well and this gives one a feeling of well-being and satisfaction.

You must remember as I stated at the beginning of this article stock investing does involve a risk, but providing that risk is carefully considered and is part of an overall investment strategy the thrill it gives the investor is an added bonus to their stock market investing activities.
